Personal background
I'm am 36 year old laborer/artist. I love to read up on cosmology, evolution, anthropology, ect., and then speculate on it all in a manner I am in no way qualified to even attempt. I consider it to be extremely plausible that life beyond our world exists. Is it possible that any 'nearby' is advanced to the point that we might communicate with it? It seems worthwhile to look.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is the sort of project that in my eyes redeems the human race. So many resources headed dubious directions, nothing left for SETI as the small minded veiw the program itself as dubious. Luckily a forward looking few have fought for funding. The little I understand of physics tells me that if a signal were detected it would have been sent long, long ago. The ancient signal would, though, transform our concept of reality and likely greatly influence our future.
