Personal background |
I am a pilot, aviation enthusiast, and minister from the United States who believes that I should use every asset at my disposal to make the world (and our understanding of it) just a little bit better.
This has also led to my participation in citizen science/volunteer computing projects, with the aim of increasing our scientific knowledge of the universe in order to enrich the lives of every human being on the planet. In addition to 'St. Devlinius' I have also contributed to BOINC projects as 'adventurer83'. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
SETI@home holds a special place for me among the various BOINC projects. It was the very first project I signed up for and I'll continue to support it through to its completion.
I believe this project is important because it probably humanity's best chance of finally receiving an answer to the question, "Is there intelligent life elsewhere in the cosmos?" By receiving an answer to that question, we would be compelled to ask new questions about our purpose in the universe, and about how our interaction with other species (both on and off our planet) might shape that purpose. |
