Personal background

I am born in January, 1979, in Paris, France. I love books, music, computers and everything that is related with astrophysics.

I love Isaac Asimov, and I would love to see some of the things that could lead to the universe he describes. I mean, space travels, exoplanets colonization...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am deeply sure that we cannot be the only form of life in the entire galaxy, and I'm not thinking about the rest of the universe... It should be obvious to whom is a bit aware of the immensity of the galaxy...

We can't say when, nor how. It does not only depend on us, but on them too !

The benefits and dangers ? Well, I'd prefer putting the "alien attack" scenario aside. My opinion is that if they know how to travel through lightyears, it means that they have reached an extremely high technological level. So, it seems logical -- at least to my opinion -- that they have eradicated all the things that could prematurely endanger their growing civilization.

But I know that the opposite can also be true, even though it sounds like a movie scenarii : they can be so technologically advanced that two of the civilizations are fighting, because one of them wants to conquer the other's planets. So it may be possible that, in this fight, one of their ships discovers the Earth and decides that it is worth attacking...

Mmmh well, I'm not convinced, I must say !

Unless I'm mistaken, we have already sent a beacon, thanks to Master Sagan. I doubt it will one day fall between non-human hands, but that was a pleasant idea !

Considering the size of the galaxy, I really don't think a beacon could, blindly, fall between alien tentacles...

I'm running SETI@home because the first time I've heard about it, in fact when I read an article on it when it came out, I was really interested in joining this project. I can let my three 1.7 Ghz computers running the whole week-ends. I thought it would be helpful !!
