Personal background

<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hi!</font>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">I am Trent,
and have been an enthusiastic supporter of SETI@home for a long time!
I'm, in my early 30's, single, male, and I collect adding machines, teletypes,
and scientific instruments. My occupation is real estate investor. Did
I mention I was single and available?</font>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">I am putting
an additional computer online soon - so far I have had just one doing
SETI calculations.</font>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">I enjoy an
eclectic assortment of things - Ozzy, Depeche Mode, Judas Priest, Bee
Gees, Vivaldi, Farscape, South Park, Beverly Hills 90210 (hey it was a
good soap opera!), Foretean Times, Life and Legend of Constantine
Palaiologos, history in general... Don't watch much Seinfeld or Friends,
don't read People more than 3-4 times a year...</font>

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">This project
is a great scientific advance - not just for its SETI implications, but
for its pioneering efforts at distributed computing. Having been a SYSOP
of a BBS in the 80's I can definitely appreciate that aspect! I feel strongly
enough about it that I think it would be nice to see a package of distributed
computing research projects included with new computers information packets,
and/or with Linix and Windows operating systems. That may prove harder
to achieve than this project...</font>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">I view running
SETI@Home as charity - this program spurred research into distributed
computing, with broad implications for research & the world. The search
for life on other planets is a noble cause, which will eventually cause
us (upon discovery!) to reevaluate our most basic beliefs.</font>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> I do believe
that there is life on other planets, and in parallel universes. Something
is &quot;not quite right&quot; - orbs, UFOs, and other unexplainable phenomena
do exist. Going any further then that I can get very complex - and skeptical
- more so than space here allows! I would not be overly shocked if it
was proven that ET's do visit Earth. If we are being visited they want
to remain private- thus a signal detection from a less advanced planet
should occur before the ETs go public!</font>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> I am slightly
apprehensive about &quot;broadcasting&quot; to space, but it is unavoidable,
so why worry? Any race that could travel here to harm us probably wouldn't
need any help from us!</font>
