| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| I see SETI@home as a prime example of the community-driven philosophy both science and computing are tending towards these days. The trust and faith SETI puts in volunteers by counting on them to accurately and quickly process this valuable information should remind us that science is not wholly an elite venture; it is for mankind, by mankind. As a student of computer engineering, the distributed computing system of SETI@home also draws me to it. I know I won't be the one to find the evidence of an extraterrestial technology, but what little contribution I can give to SETI with a single home computer is a little contribution to science that I can feel proud to have given. |
