Profile: Jeff Gu

Personal background
I'm a 50-year-old web designer and custom software developer from Lincoln, Nebraska. Distributed Computing gives me the opportunity to put some of my computer power to work for humanitarian purposes and the advancement of the sciences, thus greatly increasing the return on my investment. Whether I benefit from such efforts personally, or future generations reap the rewards is irrelevant... it is the opportunity to do something meaningful with a powerful technology that is the real reward.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It seems a bit odd to search for extra-terrestrial intelligence when there's such a short supply of the terrestrial variety... but SETI@home has probably made more people aware of distributed computing than any other project, so it's worth attaching one host machine to the project, anyway.
