Profile: ScientificDann

Personal background
My name is Daniel Muskett and I am a Sophomore at Annapolis High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. I love Astronomy with a passion, I stargaze most nights. I started out with a telescope my brother had and upgraded every few years. Most of my school knows me as an Astronomy Geek, which is fine with me, whenever someone wants something answered about space, I answer.

My interests in science include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering (Biological or Chemical.) I like to look up anything new I can find on these subjects and just soak the information in.

When I graduate in two years I hope to attend a school with interests in Astronomy . Everytime I am asked where I'd like to go, I reply CalTech. I have been fascinated by CalTech/Berkeley ever since I realized how much is accomplished by these schools, and just how important these accomplishments are.

I am on my school's Quizbowl team, and I enjoy it very much. We study a wide range of subjects and compete against other schools. It is an honor to be on the Quizbowl team, teachers and students alike look up in amazement at the students who compete against other bright minds. I am showered with compliments on how smart I am, and I guess that feeds my drive to learn as much as I can, and use the information as best as I can.

More about me, I will be shortly turning 17. I love drawing, reading, and journalism. My teachers know to expect my hand to be in the air during debates or to just answer/ask a question. I am an avid reader, I am always looking for more books to read, whether about space, or wars, or nature. I was on my schools newspaper until I moved away, but later moved back. A hobby of mine is to correct errors I see (for myself, I don't make it known to the whole class) when I find one.

My civics teacher Mr. Radwanski is always informing me on info that he learns, and I reply "Yes, I heard." and very rarely "I did not know that." It's nice to have someone to talk to about space, or politics (talked about in class anyway.) He understands what I say, and I understand what he tells me, it's nice knowing he knows what I know about space. Infact, he is the reason why I know about seti@home, he received an email and participated, and then passed the information onto me. Mr. Radwanski is a great teacher, and I hope to learn more from him, whether it be about space, or government.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I am interested in helping get as much information for SETI as possible.

2. I believe the project is worthwhile. I believe there is life out there, whether it is intelligent or microbial, and I believe someday, some life will hear/find our messages and know they are not alone.
