Profile: Critter

Personal background
I live in Oklahoma City. I'm 43. I install TV and data for a major cable company. I'm a pool fanatic and play at every opportunity. I love to read, mostly SF, but most anything will do in a pinch, except for romance novels.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. I have no illusions that it will be truly found in my lifetime. The benefits and dangers of such a discovery is a mixed bag, there are pros and cons to -any- new discovery. Humanity will just have to be careful when it happens. I refuse to believe that all other life would behave as in the old SF movies and treat us as vermin and desire to exterminate us.

Whatever information we send should -not- include RAP music. We don't want to scare them off.....

I firmly believe that the idea that the "humanity is the only life-form in the universe" idea to be extremely ego-centric and self-serving and want to contribute my small part to locating other life.

If we -are- the only life in the universe, as was stated in _Contact_, that's a whole lot of "wasted space". The normal distribution curve suggests strongly otherwise.
