| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1. Why do you run SETI@home?
a. I want to find aliens.
2. What are your views about the project?
a. I think its pretty unlikely that an alien race that has mastered transmitting information via radio waves has not mastered encoding or multiplexing. Therefore, if we did pick up a signal from them, chances are it would look random anyway, eg. would you send a signal saying \\'0101010101...\\' repeating a million times, or send a message saying \\'repeat 01 a milion times\\'? Anyway... I run SETI for the same reason people buy lottery tickets - if you don\\'t buy a ticket you\\'ve got no chance of winning.
3. Any suggestions?
a. See if the aliens like jam doughnuts... I know I do. |
