Personal background
Hello all, hope everyone is well. Most people refer to me by my college nickname, Hooch. I am a child of the 80's, born, raised and currently living in a little place called NYC. My fascination with the stars and space has been there for as long as i can remember and i was lucky enough to attend the only high school in the city with it's own planetarium.

I am a sports therapist by education and trade, finding a satisfaction in helping student-athletes heal themselves without the use of prescription meds. I taught high school for nearly a decade and have had numerous sports history articles publshed in various magazines.

History is probably my number one avocation. History of all kinds, ancient, medieval, geo-political, doesn't matter. I feel it's a key to understanding questions like how, why and what next? Music is another passion of mine. I cannot play it, sing it or write it but i get it, it's reached my core. My parents got me hooked on doo-wop as a child. Names like Bill Haley, Frankie Valley, Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis, for those who know. That evolved into an ear for all musical types and styles, except maybe newer country and hip-hop, which barely qualifies as music. R and R, R and B, classical, jazz, swing, classic rock, motown, freestyle, old-school rap, Bob Marley, chant and even pop and folk get play. Other interests include reading (non-fiction, mostly reference), writing, Mother Nature, philosophy, science, Sitchin, phi, biking and hanging out with my little nieces and nephews. Despite the fact i am lethal on a Commodore 64, i am admittedly electronically challenged and in possession of minimal technical or computer skills. SETI, i feel will help change that.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I joined SETI in mid January, 2006 when a friend downloaded it onto my new computer. I had seen him running it on his machine and was interested immediately. Now that i had the means i jumped right in. I only wish i had more resources to contribute. He suggested i check out SETI.USA and after reading the description i joined. As an athlete throughout college, i certainly enjoy the competitive team mentality. The fact that we have a long journey to the top will only make getting there even sweeter. I already find myself constantly checking for credit updates.

Personally, i run SETI for the same reason most do. I like to think i'm doing my tiny iota to help answer some of humankinds most fundamental questions. I can get lost on a million different tangents right now, so i'll simply say that sometimes i think IF (and that's a big if) but IF, an ET has made contact with whomever on Earth, we the common soul should know. I joined SETI because if enough of us worldwide show we are ready, then eventually the powers that be will have no choice but to reveal any and all hidden truths (if they exist).

Any project that can bring homo sapiens together, even if in a competitive way, is one to be supported. When that project also adds to science on a continual basis and can possibly provide the biggest breakthrough in human history, it should be rallied around. Maybe one day it will dawn on us that we really are all the same.

We may not want to but we also have to consider the possibility that they don't want to be found.

Be safe all, contact welcome.
