Personal background
I\\'m a 67 year old retired businessman living in Blythe, California in the USA. Blessed with a great wife, four children (all in their forties), and five grandchildren (also adults), we live on the border of the Sonoran and Mohave Deserts. Hobbies include astronomy, book collecting, reading, and I\\'ve built seven websites, not charging for my work, so I guess that\\'s also a hobby.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe Earth is an average planet revolving around an average star in an average galaxy. With those beliefs, and because Earth\\'s so average and teeming with life, I must also believe that life permeates our universe. I also believe, totally without proof of any kind, that communication exists between some of those lifeforms. I think it's extremely unlikely that the electromagnetic spectrum is used for that communication. It's too slow. I think something else is used, Something we\\'ve yet to discover. I\\'m very aware I could be completely wrong in all this. It is that awareness that motivates me to participate in SETI. I mean, it can't hurt to watch and listen, right? Who knows? Today might just be the day, and it may be my computer that proves my beliefs are just so much nonsense. I guess we\\'ll see.
