Personal background
I participated in SETI@Home many years ago, but my Mac grew so old it couldn't handle the updates. Now I have a new machine and the first thing I did was download the software and start up again. Well, OK, it was the second thing I did after discovering the world of iTunes and 99-cent songs.

Current machine is iMac8,1 running OS X 10.5.2 w/Intel Core 2Duo at 2.8 GHz.

I live with my partner of 30 years in suburbs north of Minneapolis. Most of my time is spent working for Allianz Life in Minneapolis. When not working I read (science fiction) or blow things up on my Playstation. When on vacation it's usually out of the country. (My avatar is a photo of me in Xi'an, China.) Latest trip was to Fiji - one of my lifelong dreams was to sail aimlessly in the South Pacific. Only two continents remaining to be visited - Africa and Australia. I'm not going to Antarctica, no matter what anyone says! Minnesota is cold enough and freezing weather is not my idea of vacation.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm old enough to have watched the early launches of the American space program on television and have always been fascinated with the space program and space exploration in general. I'm hoping to live long enough to see a colony on the Moon or Mars. If I can play any role in establishing first contact, I'll do it.

We are not alone. I miss you, Carl.
