Personal background
Well, to start...you can call me Joe. I live in the good ol' town of Kissimmee, Florida. I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. I've spent most my life trying to figure out the mysteries of the universe...first on my list is figuring out how to program my cell phone's voice mail options, then after that ill move onto solving string theory theories. I’m a musician at heart, and a fan of learning all I can about space and all its little cool things that make interesting/though provoking conversation (I once talked time travel with my brother for over 4 hours...I have a lot of time on my hands). And that’s about it... well besides the fact that I love peanut butter.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial Life aye?... I’m not one to say it exists or not, but I ask myself the same question Michi Katu and Albert Einstein ask themselves; If I were to make the universe, how would I do it?. Well certainly not with just one "intelligent" race. I believe its selfish, and darn right stupid, to say that we are so great we are the only species of anything to ever make a system of irrigation, to ever fly a plane, or to ever make a super computer that allows us to "play around" with anti-Matter.
Now on the topic of how we'll discover ET life, SETI@home and similar space programs are a good start. Because of these programs, countries have joined hand and hand to discover life on other planets. And as my daddy always said, "Team work is the best way to do something." (He was in the army and shoved that ideal [although a good one] down my throat) :).
Lastly, on why I run SETI; why should I hold back something I can offer just because it might save me an extra 30 cents on my electricity bill? I'd give you guys my computer if it would help the world unravel this mystery.
So in conclusion... rock on SETI and all your SETI-goodness.
