Profile: Paul W. Hudson

Personal background
I'm 43 now and not getting any younger. As I have aged, I find that I am more and more cynical when it comes to religon. Aurther C. Clark said in one of his space odessy books (3001 I think, but I'm just guessing) "If an extra terrestrial intelligence were to sudy Earth and examine human religon they would notice that 95% of beliefs over lap. But for that 5% difference we are willing to kill each other." I will not chide anyone's faith. There is nothing wrong with faith. But, faith is not religon. If the Earth is ever visited by "ET", and it gets out into the public as a fact, many "religons" are going to have to change their narrow minded views that they are the center of the universe. This idea gives me a warm fuzzy! The sad part is, if another intelligence is able to perform interstellar travel they are probabily smart enough to leave us alone until we work out that 5% difference and live in peace.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If asked "Why SETI?" I would respond "Why not!"

I've looked at other projects to run on my computers "down time" but I like the idea of this one the best. I think it is the least likely to be exploited for profit. Do I hold any hope that we will find something? A little. I'm not being negative. Just a realist. The universe is... aaahhh... very large! You can equate it to playing the lottery. Ya, the odds are large but if you don't play then they are infinate. We'll never find if we don't look!
