| Personal background |
I am USAF retired, my first computer experience was in 1974. I have a MS in Operations Management, Pilots License, Mechanic license for Airframes and Powerplants. I'm an old auto mechanic for fun.
I live in Cabot, Arkansas
I started a garden this year.
I spend time at a local computer repair/network management shop.
I have 9 grandchildren 5 of which live with us.
I am always trying new cooling ideas for my cpu's/gpu's. TEC, water cooling, direct injection of ac units. Fans moving air will reduce the chance of frost forming. Condensation dripping on a gpu caused by a bad cooling pump will cost you a new card. CoolIT has some great units. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Why do I SETI? Our grandchildren will benifit from the work units we produce. There is a bigger purpose then mankind just walking around consuming everything we see. It is this kind of science that has us right where we are. If not this project SETI, then something that will move us forward. We are courious about everything, we have to know why. We are not alone in this universe with the idea to grow. Some believe that survival of the fittest ( Spencer and Darwin) is why birds dance during mating. Possibably, but they learned it somehow.
I believe we are doing a great service in providing the foundation for future generation to stand on and reach even higher into the unknown. The logistics of this project are far reaching. The engineers, designers and dreamers are painting a masterpiece. Technology breakthroughs, discoveries about space and what is there, it is not empty. I wish I had taken a class that could bring to light all that we find and suppose. As I watched the Mars Rovers I think what have we contributed, Mercury lets look closer, and we are.
I am just rambling but "dare to dream" who said it? |
