Profile: Tyson

Personal background
My name is Tyson, I'm 34 years old, and I reside in Fort Collins, Colorado. We are about sixty miles North/Northwest of Denver, next to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Fort Collins was an Army outpost before the turn of the twentieth century, along with Fort Laramie, and indeed was named after a Commander of Fort Laramie. The Morrill Act of 1862 brought a Land Grant College to the "city" around 1870, then called Colorado Agricultural College, which evolved into Colorado A&M, and finally Colorado State University where I currently work in the Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services. I am also an Alumnus.
I enjoy writing (my Avocation), hockey, science, going to the gym, and the continued pursuit of knowledge.
That about sums it up...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI represents a core of human existance that is truly worthwhile-- the never ending quest for knowledge and understanding of the universe. I have discovered much in my 34 years that, as time goes by, proves to be trivial. There are few things that I consider to be noble, and the desire to discover what is "out there" is among them. It is concomitant with philosophy, art, and other branches of science; the manifestation of an insatiable desire for discovery, leading to the core question, the one that should enliven and live in everyone's heart, "WHY?"
