Personal background
Actually, a SETI@home member since 1999, this is my third account as SETI@home's systems have evolved over time and lost track of my earlier accounts. I've logged nearly 2,000 work units over the past six years.

As for me, I'm a professor at Shoreline Community College, a photographer, backpacker, newbie cyclist, and a community activist here in Seattle.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I was an early adopter and continue to run the project's software because few possibilities are more fascinating than success in the SETI. What better project to contribute a few teraflops to now and then?

Thanks for finally upgrading the Mac OSX software for us distrubuted computing types. The old version 3.08 left my computer open to household snoops (no locking screensaver), and I could never use it at work for that reason. Now, I'll be able to run the BOINC version without worries on desktop and laptop alike.
