I am origionally from south eastern Connecticut and was stationed at McConnell AFB in 1994. I was discharged and enrolled as a Physics student at Wichita State. I had graduated with a B.S. and continued on and received a M.S. in 2004. Since then found a job and moved to southern Indiana. I built myself a new computer (not because I needed a faster computer but for a better video gaming experience:)and have started to run SETI@Home again. I had stopped for a while because my computer was getting old and was having trouble multitasking.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There have been many projects similar to SETI pop up in the last few years. Many of them help worthwhile scientific projects but some (imo) are useless. I first heard of SETI@Home while I was a student at Wichita State University. I am interested in many areas of physics but all things space related have always been of particular interest. Astrophysics is what I love and do for a hobby. I have always found SETI to be of personal interest in helping to answer the question of whether or not we are alone. I believe this one question has the possibility to change not only the face of science but our culture also.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
