Personal background |
Hello everyone! I'm a computer engineer/IST major at Penn State University. I heard about SETI for the first time in the 7th grade and was amazed what my teacher was doing with his computer to help the search for intelligent life outside earth. So eventually when the year ended I decieded as I got more into aliens, area 51, and the whole extraterrestrial excitement I wanted to be a part of what he was doing. After searching for about 5 years for this organization/program, I was at a LAN party with all my friends and my one friend was running SETI as his screen saver. So I jumped him when he was getting to his seat at his computer again and with shear excitement to find SETI made him tell me exactly how to get and how to run the program. He looked at my like I was crazy because I was frantically rambling off question about his screensaver and causing a commotion in our corner of the room that I made sure to let everyone at the party how long I've been looking SETI and how happy I was to finally find it. Anyway I have several different types of computer system which I designed myself and partially dedicated to SETI. From top of the line gaming computer, to internet servers, to basic bare bone systems there all going to have SETI running as soon as possible. I truly think there is life outside Earth and I'm excited to be a part of a program which will eventually find them. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I run SETI@home because I know there is life outside Earth and I can't wait till we find it. The project I think is great. Shared computing is a great idea to process tons of information between user's around the world to work toward one goal. |
