Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that intelligent life has and will continue to exist in the Universe, but I think it's fairly unlikely that we will be listening at the same time that any "intelligent" signal may happen to sweep past us. There have been billions of years for civilizations to start, grow, decline, and end, and the chances of two of us being around such that one will send a signal and reach another while both are thriving must be very small. I'm assuming that many of the signals we are currently listening to must be hundreds, if not thousands, of years old by the time they reach us, and any reply that we might send back would probably fall on deaf ears. All of that aside I think we are ready to accept "proof" of "life out there."

Happy Hunting!
