Personal background
Good day. I'm 27, from Northern USA, though I'm British. I'm currently attending university for economics. Eventually I'd like to work for the government and help shape international trade policies to make them more friendly towards those who are easily taken advantage of.

I am fascinated by space and its exploration. I'd love to be an astronaut, but I'm realistic enough to know that will never happen. I love sci-fi. I enjoy creating things, be it art, music, or film. I love studying history, writing, art, science (specifically astronomy), and things like that.

I'm in a band called Fanclub (we're all multi-instrumentalists). We play indie rock.

I believe that God is greater than science, and do not believe that everything in this universe can be explained, nor can it be fully captured by the human mind. I don't think learning is a waste (obviously), but I think it's foolish to think we can fully understand everything about our world and the world around it.

That said, I think it's equally foolish not to think outside the box, and to remain insular people. This is why I support this project and space exploration. The more we learn, the better off we'll be.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe in the validity of this project. I think it's great to try and "meet our neighbours," as it were. I mean, it's entirely possible that they've got some similar program and are trying to find us. 150,000 light years away, there's probably some alien life form sitting at his data terminal thinking, "there's GOT to be other life out there somewhere."

I don't believe that all aliens out there are malicious, as it seems popular to believe. I'd like to think there are aliens out there who are just as peacable and interested in learning as we are. As there are good people, there are good aliens. As there are mean and nasty people, there are mean and nasty aliens.
