Personal background
I am a CPA in Denison, TX. I enjoy auditing, taxes, and accounting; all those things that makes CPA's such interesting people. Would love to find ET and live in a "Futurama" world. Would love to be abducted by aliens (expect for the anal probe thing).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe in ET. I tend to follow Mr. Sagan's philosphy: If there are billions and billions of habitable planets the odds of us being the only one's out here are slim. I would like for Earth to be visited by aliens although I am torn. If the aliens are "Star Trek" type i.e. friendly and forming federation etc, then sure pop on down and visit. However, what if the aliens are more "Battlefield Earth" type or "V" type, and only come here to take our resources and enslave humanity, well that would be a bad thing.
I run Seti@home because I like to think I am doing my part for the cause. Most "causes" you can only give money to (i.e. I believe we should find a cure for cancer but I can't do the research, so all I can do is donate funds to help). Finding ET is a cause in which I (well my computer at least) can help! How cool would it be if my computer was the one that found ET's signal?
