I am a student at the University of Oklahoma and should be receiving my degree in Management Information Systems this December (2005).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am very interested in the search for signs of life on other planets and in other galaxies than our own. I believe that soley on the basis of odds, there almost must be intelligent life elsewhere in the universe and it is the duty of the scientific community to search for it. However, due to political grievances with the SETI project and the funding cuts that have resulted, the public has been enlisted to aid scientists.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
