Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Before SETI@home, I used to run the RSA challenges because I thought it was important to point out the short comings of encryption. But when SETI@home became available, it just captured my imagination. Other challenges like FOLDING@home are more up my alley as a biologist but I've always had questions about how those discoveries would be handled. On the other hand, discovery of other intelligent life could be the most mind-blowing thing ever and I want to be a part of that.
