Profile: Star Toucher

Personal background
Behind the alias Star Toucher is a person like all of you who are looking for an extraterrestrial signal that will change the course of history.

I live in Athens Greece, I have a degree in IT and Iam proud to participate to BOINC, the largest active distributed computation project of our times.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you believe in the existence of extraterrestrial intellegence?
Do you believe that the truth is hidden somewhere out there?

I want to believe and SETI@home is a chance for everyone to help science detect radio signals originating from alien life-forms and prove that our little blue planet is not the only one inhabited by intelligent beings. Otherwise, as Carl Sagan said:

"If We Are Alone in the Universe, Then It Is an Awful Waste of Space"

According to Frank Drake's equation (N = R* fp ne fl fi fc L) the statistics is on our side and there must be a considerable number of communicating civilizations in our galaxy.

On the other hand, until proven otherwise, the "Fermi Paradox" - the antiphasis between the estimation of high probability of the existence of extraterrestrial entities and the lack of evidence for such entities - is the dominant theory.

It is a fact in our days that very often we read at scientific magazines articles about the discovery of a new, likewise Earth, Planet. It is only the great distances that do not allow as to find out if there is some spark of life on them.

The visible through our eyes star-spangled night sky gives as a little taste of the universe's vastity and the uncounted possibilities and promises that are waiting to be revealed. Well-minded use of Technology and ambitious worldwide projects like SETI@home is our mean to the enlightment of our knowledge.

My question is why SETI is not looking for digital signals from Space. It is highly possible to be used from advanced alien civilizations and they can't be produced from natural causes like analog signals.
