I am a programmer. The kind you hope is not going to interview you because the interview is going to uncannily resemble the algorithms and complexity exams in college.
I write, maintain and port C++ libraries on: AIX 5.2/5.3, Windows 2000/XP/2003, HP-UX 11.11, 11.11i, 11.23, Linux (RedHat AS 3.0/4.0, SUSE ES 9.0), Solaris 7, 8, 9, 10 using MS Visual C++ 6.0/7.1, SunPro 5.4/5.5/5.6, GCC 3.2.x/3.3.x/3.4.x, Visual Age for C++ 6.x/7.x, HP aCC 3.52/3.63, etc., etc.
I do karate, less now than 10 years ago, and I am a Shotokan black belt.
It is probable that there are other civilizations out there. This is reason enough to contribute to the project.

I run SETI@home because I believe its purpose to be good. The discovery that we are not alone would be the one single most important discovery in the whole history of man kind. Oh, wait, Scully and Mulder already proved that. :-)
