Personal background
Hi, my name is David
Well I was born in 1961 and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
I've been a fan of the American space program, since the word go. What really peek my childhood facination, was the Apollo Moon flights! The enormous Saturn 5 rockets blasting off... the lunar landings! WOW! My sister rushing me and our siblings home, to watch history in the making... Neil Armstrong's first steps on the Moon. Too cool...At the same time period, watching Star Trek, Lost in Space, wanting so much to be an astronaut, to explore the comos...
With that said, my love for the new frontier grew and expanded. That is, my understanding of the history of the universe and life. I was always the curious type. I read and absorbed as much as a layman could, coming to the conclusion,[As well many authors, who had convince me] that there has to be more to life, then what is on Earth. That was sometime back in the 1980's.
So I'm no scholar and I would converse with my co-workers on the construction sight, about these matters...Hmmmm...So I kept my "hobbie" to myself. Always watching for what NASA was doing and now the European Space Agency. And now China! Ever watchful for news out of NASA and ESA.
When I heard about SETI, I thought " Well, it's about time!". Then how the American goverment cut funding! Then SETI@home...WOW...Great...I can participate. Well I think almost 8 years later, I finally have a computer that can handle and analyze the data that was sent to it.
So in a way, my childhood dream is realized...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As I said in my profile, I'm fulfilling my dreams of exploring the comos and trying to find new life.
I wouldn't participate in SETI@home, if I didn't believe in it. NEXT!
As you people are the smarter...figure it out!
