Personal background
I am a 21 year old from Newbury Park. I used to run cross country and track and marathons. Now I am lazy so I hardly run at all. In my spare time I enjoy all types of fun activities. I am not scared to try just about anything once. I really enjoy activities that relate to the ocean. I would like to spend more time going scuba diving but its always something that takes a far amount of planning, well at least with my family. I had an amazing ski season of winter 04-05 which I got to really improve my skill level. Next year its time from some really hard stuff. On the side I enjoy collecting weapons and learning how to use them. I attend CSUN getting a degree in Recreation and Leisure Management. I am a supporter of Greenpeace and proud knowing that I am helping out the greater good of keeping out planet healthy. I\\'ve got the most amazing girlfriend in the world. Kim. She is in creditably beautiful, smart, sweet and kind. All my dreams of my future have her being a big part of them. I plan to marry her once we get out of college.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been running SETI@Home for a good number of years. I first learned about it at a Planetary Society Meeting in which SETI@Home was being presented. Originally I when I started I had a pretty slow computer and didn\\'t get many credits. Then I could not access it correctly so I started a new one. My first is Dylan Gunning. Now it is Dylan J Gunning.
I believe that there is a very good chance that there is other life out in the universe. There are so many stars and galaxies out there and many must have planets. I do not believe that life on Earth is a freak thing. The idea of capturing communication waves from other life forms is a pretty interesting concept and does sound possible.
To me I feel that using many peoples computers to compute the data is an ingenious idea. I mainly run my computer as a gaming computer with SETI@Home running in the background. With no slowing. With this on mind, it makes me sad when I walk into my college library and see all these computer sitting there without SETI@Home on them. The hundred of computer in these libraries can computer labs could compute millions of data.
I myself run it on my computer and try and get my friends to do the same. I am proud that I am making myself available to help out this project
