Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do I do SETI? Simple really. There has to be something out there.

I, like most adult males of my generation grew up watching sci-fi on telly and on film and was intrigued by the vastness amongst other things.

Just go out on a clear night and look up at the sky. What do you see? No, not street lights, beyond that. Stars. Thousands and thousands of \\'em (and they\\'re just the ones we can see). Now each of those is a sun (just like ours) and has planets / satellites orbiting them. Some of them surely must have some sort of life form on them.
Can we communicate with them. Who knows?
Will they be bipeds? Probably not but we will never know unless we keep looking.
Will they strangely sexy in an odd sort of way and will we have to snog them? Only if we happen to be Captain James T. Kirk.
