Personal background |
I'm a mechanical engineering and mathematics student from Canada. Undergraduate work is a drag, but I really look forward to graduate school. I am positioning myself to work in R and D in the alternative power field, in an effort to reduce our dependance on fossil fuels. I first heard of the setiathome project from a friend, after I expressed an interest in the movie ``Contact.'' |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I know everybody else says this, but ... the universe is such a vast place. How can we be the only sentient creatures in the universe. Our history is so short; surely there are space faring civilizations, ones that are much more advanced than us. To me, the setiathome project has a few attractions (1) it is a really technically interesting challenge, (2) I relish the thought of over 300,000 people working together towards a common goal, (3) I believe there is other (probably) more advanced life in the universe, and this project allows me to do a little bit in helping to find it. |
