| There has to be lots of other worlds out there full of intelligent species. The seti projects are probably the most likely way that we will make first contact. Even if it is only one way, us receiving their signal, that as with us, were sent out into space accidentally as we did. And just as a side note I disagree with Steven Hawkins, I firmly believe that if an alien species did actually find away to travel far enough, fast enough to show up here that they would have to had become peaceful and benevolent. I don’t think it would be possible for a civilization to develop anything that was powerful enough to make interstellar space travel possible without becoming peaceful and tolerant, or they would most likely destroy themselves long before traveling out into the stars. I think using the human race as an analogy for the way a species that had evolved far enough to have interstellar space travel is rather short sighted. |
