Personal background
Hi I’m a 26 year old from North Carolina. I am a recent college graduate with a degree in Internet Technologies and am currently still looking for a job. As you can imagine this leaves me with a lot of free time which I usually send glued to the computer. I have several computers all of which I leave running 24 hours a day mostly doing nothing this is one of the reasons I decided to install SETI on all of them, besides the SETI screen saver is much cooler than any of the ones I had :). My hobbies include anything dealing with computers, I also have a drag car ('69 Camaro) which I race, well at least when I have a job I race, and last but not least I enjoy watching the science channel when my eyes start to hurt from the computer lol. Space has always been a big interest of mine and I hope my small contribution will help further our knowledge about the "FINAL FRONTIER", oh did I forget to mention I’m also a star trek fan.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe there is "life" out there some where of some kind, but I think our best chance of finding "life" is looking for small organisms or unintelligent life, not saying there isn’t intelligent life out there just that it would probably take longer to find. The biggest benefit I can see of finding life would be a possible planet suitable for habitation by humans, because lets face it earth isn’t going to be around for ever. I do believe humans should do everything in our power to locate life of any kind and I commend SETI for their contributions on doing so.
