Personal background
I am a 28yr old male from Adelaide Australia. I have always been amazed and very interested in space. I have hundreds of hours of space programs on tape!!!! I love space and would do anything to explore it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes I think Extra Terrestrial Life exists. I think mankind will find it when we are ready. At present, most humans are scared of what they don't know, so I think it is WAY too soon for all but a select few to discover life outside Earth. There are many benefits to discovering other life but with benefits also comes dangers. We MUST be so very careful about how we handle the time we DO discover Extra Terrestrial Life for a myriad of reasons.
There is already a satellite floating around out there transmitting signals of our genetic makeup, a little about the human species and playing a song called....wait for it....."Johnny Be Good"!!!!!!
I run SETI@home because I would love to discover other life, I am intriuged about what is out there. After all, there HAS to be other life out there. If we are the only life there is, it is a really sad and quite rude waste of space. I think the project is a stroke of genius. Any way I can become more involved in the project would be, to use a cleche, a dream come true.
