Personal background
Hi I'm Ian and I'm living in Somerset in the South West of the United Kingdom.
I'm 59 and back in part time education with the Open University reading Earth Science with the enphasis on geology but with a smattering of planetary science. Whilst that takes some of my time I still spend time on rural pastimes including an intrest in enviramental problems in rural England ie littering and education to stop same including the rather painfull results for reptiles encountering drink can pull tabs and plastic containers, which can and do trap a number of snakes and lizerds every year. In there somewhere I find time to read science fiction and fantisy.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am just comming back to Seti@home from a lay of and take part because I honstly cant see how the human race can be the only speices with the knowledge to use electromagnetic radation to communicate, with all the millions of possible other planets orbiting stars in our universe. So lets hear from them and perhaps one day communicate with them.

I think this project is pretty dam good as it's making good use of the thousands of unused processing hours wasted every second around the world.
