Personal background |
I am a student studying computer science and dramatic design at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am running SETI 24/7 on my 1200@1350MHz Athlon, occasionally on a 266MHz PII laptop, and 24/5 on an 866MHz PIII. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Yes, I think that extraterrestrial life exists. However, I'm not sure that they're sending radio waves our way, but one can hope. I don't think that humanity is ready for discovery. Or at least not co-existance. Perhaps discovery would be good long before we could ever make contact, to get people used to the idea. I don't know that we should send a beacon for others to find, in the case of the ET's being hostile and wanting to use us for something/kill us, whatever. For now, until we have advanced much further and aren't solely dependant on this one planet for life, let's keep it on the down low. I run SETI@Home for the purpose of optimizing my computers, and letting them do something productive while I'm not around! ^_^ |
