I believe that extraterrestrial life exists. However, it appears to be an extremely diffuse phenomenon, and while we can hope to one day detect it, it is less likely that we will be able to communicate with, let alone visit or be visited by, non-terrestrial intelligent life. But I'm all for our making the effort!
