Personal background
I'm 48 years old, and spend wayyy to much time on the web. I am originally from southern/central California, but now reside in Kansas, and no I have not seen Dorothy or that little mutt of hers, Toto either... :) I used to be a journeyman electrician (almost 20 years) and was sub-contracted to what was then Texaco Oil, designing and constructing systems for producing, inventory, handling, testing, storage, and shipping of crude oil and by-products in their many oilfields, plants and facilities in California. In 2000 I became ill with a fungal virus called "Valley Fever" (if you're interested, you can look it up with google.com) It is very prevailent in the south-western parts of the USA such as central/southern California and Arizona as well as northern Mexico, and is a very nasty thing to catch. I would not wish it upon my worst of enemies. So, after battling death for a year or so, (I have actually died twice and was resucitated) my heart is now damaged very badly and I am unable to work. Luckily I was found by a great doctor and now I'm doing much better. (almost back to normal) Believe it or not I actually miss my job, it was very interesting and also very rewarding. About the time I became ill, I met a Lady online, and in 2001 I moved to Kansas to be with her. She nursed me through my worst of times, and for that I'll always love her... I enjoy most forms of motorsports and dirt short-track stock car racing is my favorite. I appreciate muscle cars of years gone by and currently own a customized and powerful 1954 Chevy truck streetrod which I enjoy driving every chance I get.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I would like to believe that some day soon we will find ET intelligence, and hopefully I will be one of those involved somehow. My thoughts are divided on the chances of that however. On one hand, I think statistcally the odds of us being alone in the vastness of the universe and beyond is just too great a number to be possible... On the other hand, I also believe that our level of intelligence has brought us to the point that I really do believe that we can search far enough out there and with a reasonable amount of sophistication, that we should have found something by now to at least give us hope that we are on the right track... Maybe they are just hiding?.....

AS far as the SETI@home idea goes, I think it's wonderful to be able to bring the home computer user a way to be involved in the search!! Even if a person does not really believe there is life out there, it still helps us to prove it one way or the other, hopefully in our lifetime. Lots of people say there is nothing out there.... And you never know, people have been wrong before, haven't they?...

What I do find strange is the fact that now that almost everybody has a camera and/or a video camera, HOW COME YOU HARDLY EVER SEE OR HEAR OF A UFO SIGHTING ANYMORE LIKE WE USED TO IN THE 50'S AND 60'S??
