I am 36 years old, 6' 3" dark hair and eyes, was married but now divorced, I have 2 lovely daughters 12 and 14 years old, I am in a committed relationship with a wonderful lady I met on the net, and now desperately saving to visit.
I live and work in the uk, with occasional trips to europe to help with the work that we do, I make sure the computers we use are working and make sure the website is up and running, my official title is "Computer Systems and E-Commerce Manager", which is a mouth full, so my boss calls me "He who fixes things".
my hobbies include reading watching films sci fi and horror, walking and surfing the net.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I think extraterrestrial life does exist. It just has to, there are numerous stars, with as ours I expect planets and there has to be life on some of them, and taking in to concideration the age of the universe there must be some forms of life that can travel enourmouse distances in a resonably short time.
Will we discover it, yes and some probably have, I say that because, as a teenager I used to deliver milk and I was cycling to the depot early one morning and I heard this hum, very very deep sounding, so I looked around me and then looked to a night sky and I saw a very very big orange colour thing kind of an elongated sphere, it moved slowly overhead but as it reached the edge of town it sped up and was gone in a blink of an eye.
I have never tried to explain this and until now have told very few of this experience, so make of it what you will.
In answer to the question what are the benefits and dangers, I would like to think that they would share their technology with us (benefit).
A person will understand, people panic, the millitary and government will cover up and kill (danger, not to us (initially) but to any visitors).
I think we should tranmit a beacon for others to find, there may be many races out there probably trying to find out them selves if life exists out side there planet or system.
I think the SETI project is very important and I am proud to be helping through the program available. |
