Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is vital for all of us out there to continue what seems to be a minority passion. That being the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. I think we all know it exists but only time will tell if we can contact other races.

I am proud of being a SETI member since 1999 and proud to run a group called SETI-England. I must add that this is a partiotic title denoting the country in which I live, nothing to do with the England Football team who a large majority of this nation associate only with the flag, and only ever show any patriotism for that flag whilst they are in the world cup.

I think SETI has been cruelly sidelined by much of the general population due to peoples inability to go beyond the media association of anything Extra Terrestrial must automatically being viewed in a sci-fi style, laughable light.

Too many times we have seen anything relating to aliens or the search for extra terrestrial life being met with comments of derision, mocking giggles, and looks that indicate the questioning of your sanity. This is a media fuelled situation which has now become so ingrained into the human psyche that it will be impossible to rectify unless clear categorical proof is presented to the world proving the existence of alien life. Until that day finally comes it seems we will have to all plough a lonely and unpopular furrow. But this is one furrow I am proud and determined to plough.

I feel that the human race still has far to go beyond this "we are the ultimate creation and we know everything" mentality that seems to exist. It just seems a perpetual situation where the world has stopped exploring it's horizons, and the human race has become lazy and complacent with it's existence. If we have an impertinent question nowadays we never let it lead through study and research to a pertinent answer, nowadays we lazily look it up on Google or Wikipedia. I think that the world needs to find Extra Terrestrial life, if only for a wake-up call.
