Personal background
A computer technician in the midwest USA. Enjoy talking on 2 meters. Look for me on local nets. Looking into packet radio in the near future as well as upgrading my license so I can talk some DX. My current station is 3 computers (1 running boinc) and a hallicrafters sx-122 for listening to shortwave and ham broadcast as well as a Yeasu ft2800m hooked up for a 2 meter base with a comet dual band base antenna. My current workstation for using boinc is a throw together machine out of spare parts I have aquired from doing service work and upgrades for people. It is an AMD Sempron 2400 running Kubuntu 6.10. I have been trying a few difffent flavors of linux and this one along with Suse 10.2 are my favorites. Some of the computers listed have been upgraded to my current machine.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
On to the ET stuff. Do I believe in ETs? In a word yes I do. I have read articles and with all the sightings and stories that has to be some truth in it somewhere along with all the videos that have been shot. If my using this machine to help out in the contact of aliens that would be the greatest thing I could do for humanity. Hopefully the day will come when we contact another race and we can learn things from each other as well as help each other with our problems.

I would like to see a graphical screensaver for boinc in linux. Or at least a scipt that could be run on the desktop to show progress on the current workunits. Also to utilize the cpu more as another setting.
