Profile: Christian Perthen

Personal background
I was very intrigued and fascinated by Carl Sagan's presentations about cosmos in my youth. I loved to get out in the cold winter nights and point by telescope in every direction of the Milkyway. The movie "Star Wars" opened my mind and fantasies ever more. Today, I live in New York and work in the field of IT.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am strong beliver of ET and I believe we are already observed and studied by some far superior intelligence(s). I believe there are protocols that prevent them to interfere with the developement of our civilization until we reach a certain stage of technological and social maturity.

We are alreay transmitting lot of junk and I don't really see any reason for us to transmit a beacon for others to find us, they already have.

Also, I belive there are mechanisms (firewalls) that prevent less mature civilization to contact others less mature civilization. A civilization need to reach a certain threshold to be able to have there beacons transmitted un-interupted. This may be a cause why nothing has been found yet.

I also believe that we still don't have anything that is "trade-able" or is of specific interest to other civilization at this point. I have more thought on this that I will share at a later point.
