Like most here I have been interested in the stars, other planets and the chance for life. I am constantly amazed at how huge the universe is and how little we know. I am also disappointed that I will probably never have the chance to travel to other planets and explore the universe.
I am a Systems Administrator by profession, working and living in Michigan.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think this is very cool. Knowing all the computing power we have sitting around there is a lot we can do if we pull it all together. Imagine all those PCs at home during the day doing nothing. Then image all those PCs sitting at work at night donig nothing.
I work for a health care organization and I hope the time will come when a BOINC based program will come along for heath care research. Then I could convince the CEO to let all our new PCs do research during the night. That would be cool and very powerful.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
