Profile: John "Brad" Morris (KA3YAN)

Personal background
I'm originally from Oxford, Maryland. I graduated in 1993 from Easton High School in Easton, MD. After graduation I joined the U.S. Marine Corps. I went to Parris Island, SC for Basic Recruit Training, and then Camp Lejeune, NC for Marine Combat Training. In May 1998 I earned my Associate of Science degree from Barstow College, Barstow, CA. As a Marine, I was trained as Logistician and served for 10 1/2 years as an enlisted Marine, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). In Feb 2004 I was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer (W-1), and am currently the Embarkation Officer of Marine Air Control Group 38, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar, CA.

Additionally, I have been an Amateur Radio operator (KA3YAN) since 1990. I have a Technician class license. That license was issued under the old rules requiring a Novice license (i.e. 5 wpm Morse code). I enjoy DXing on HF as well as packet and APRS on 2m.

I have been participating in SETI@home since May 1999.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am interested in participating in SETI@home because of the potential in helping to discover another civilization on an alien planet.

I believe that there are other beings out there. With the current technology we have today, this seems to be the only real way for me to contribute to the research. I truly believe this is a worthwhile endeavor.
