Personal background |
I live in Livermore, Maine in a log house on 25 acres of woods. I am 68 years old and retired as a sensor systems engineer at the MITRE Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts. My hobbies are amateur radio, computers, science and technology in general, sports, hunting and fishing - most of which I have no time for.
In a previous career, I was a radio astronomer, and did work at the Arecibo Observatory on scintillation of pulsars and other radio sources. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I like the idea of being able to contribute, if only somewhat passively, to the SETI program. I have always been interested in the possibility of other forms of life elsewhere in our universe.
I am not sure that SETI will ever be successful in discovering purposeful signals from another civilization. I have a feeling that advanced beings will have discovered more effective techniques to communicate than using electromagnetic waves, but the attempt must be made. |
