Personal background
Located in Austin, Texas. Have been a SETI user since the start of program. The SETI program is quite awesome. I have it running on about 30 PC's within my work and overseas. Hope to see the program expand and maybe discover contact in this vast galaxy. Have a Degree in Computer Science Information Systems and a military background in communications and SOCOM. Currently a instructor.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I first started running the program when I read an article in a gaming magazine and have been a user ever since. I have many PC's running this client. The project is awesome. I am glad to see it has come a long way and it has surpassed it 2 year original goal. Terrestrial contact is important part of enhancing our technology. We are currently limited to short range distances in our galaxy let alone our own solar system. Further expansion to space will need distant help and technology that is if they want to help us. We have advanced in new propulsion systems but they have limitations. Then again space travel was unheard of 70 years ago. So who knows what the next 100 years will bring. With develpment of of Plasma engines and robots. Distant travel for exploration is near or at least within my lifetime. Finding a contact is the first major step towards communications. The last barriers are finding the common ground to continue or return contact. The future is uncertain but there is no doubt our place is in space.
