Personal background
I'm not easy to describe or maybe I just dont know myself that well, anyways I'll try to give you a brief about what I do/like:

I'm a 30-ish Network Admin(the guy everyone loves to hate) working in an University environment in Cape Town(South Africa), my hobbies are computer gaming, reading (sci-fi and Fantasy)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. My motivation is just this: recognition.

2. I think SETI is an interesting project - not that I think we'll find someone - but I like this project because of the energy of all the people involved aswell as the continuous nature thereof. I know that my effort CPU-wise will be noticed a few years down the line.

If there is ET then either they are less advanced than us, maybe trying to start their first fire or they are much more advanced than us and trying hard to ignore us. Our mission is to try and catch them out at their own game and thereby prove that ET exist. I dont keep it against them that they don't want to talk to us, maybe they will sometime later when we've grown up or maybe when we've become civilized. Either way the hunt is more fun than the discovery. Happy hunting.
