Personal background
I am a 38-year old physician assistant from Washington (the state, not the city).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a child, I idolized astronauts and those who looked outwards rather than downwards. I believe that the odds are good for life out there, if we look long enough. I often speculate, however, whether we will even have the correct sensory frame of reference to recognize intelligence when we see it. All of our speculations are by definition anthropomorphic, and may not apply in any way to what we find out there.

Of course, there may be nothing at all. Wouldn't that be depressing?
