I have been a sworn Calvin and Hobbes[/url] fan for years, and I share Calvins interest in aliens. I also like to "play" with radio controlled cars, especially big Monster Trucks. Bigger is better. Computers are a central interest in my life, as I have software development as both my profession and as a hobby.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I run SETI@home because I want to leave as little CPu time as possible to that "System Idle Process" that keeps hogging my CPU.
I think SETI@home is by far the coolest Idle-time process available. I agree that searching for a cure for cancer might be a "better" project, but hey, if we discover aliens, they might have the cure, right? And besides, with this new version we might get a "cancer-project" for boinc eventually too, right? Then we can share between the projects.
It might be cool to have a section in the screensaver scrolling through some of the more interesting results, showing the graphs and info about them, including who "found" it. |
