Personal background
I have participated in SETI for about a year now, I have recently begun work for CPDN having only dabbled before (thanks to the folks behind BOINC for making this
possible) and I will be joining the Predictor project as soon as the option returns to their website. I am now reading English at Southampton and computer related pursuits take up much of my free time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The following excerpt from the 'Galaxy Song' by Eric Idle and John Du Prez from the movie 'The Meaning of Life', pretty much sums up my attitude to SETI.

"remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,

How amazingly unlikely is your birth,

And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,

'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth."
