Personal background
I and my family live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm currently working in the field of avionics with a Canadian Aerospace firm. I have always believed that we can't be alone in the universe - and when I heard of Seti at home, I was all too happy to lend my spare cpu cycles to the cause.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course extraterrestrial life exists. After all - we're here!! If we exist in all the universe, we probably aren't alone.
People should welcome the opertunity to prove there is more out there than our little speck of dust we live on in our ignorant bliss. Our own society provides a problem to deal with in this respect though. A discovery of sentient life elsware calls into question all our beliefs of who we are based on our religions and cultures.

We need to explore and learn. Its what we are. Seti@home provides an avenue for people to do that from their own PC's in the comfort of their homes. Its awesome to think it has that many followers. I run it all the time (although my machine is slow as molasses!!) in the background in hopes that sometime soon - maybe we will get a suprize. Just maybe....
